Failed Assassination

The war ensued.
Yells of the dead were creeping inside, as the noise of clashing metal echoed through the walls. Stan kept steady, it was clear that is side was loosing, because war cry's of victory could be heard all around, and he was an assassin waiting for his victim.
But Stan wasn't alone, two more where here to help in is mission, a cause that led him to spent the last three years infiltrating his enemy den.
At first they were seven, but four of his comrades had died at the swords of their own compatriots, as they had to participate in various skirmishes to rise in rank, either way the quantity of blood that they had their countryman bleed for this operation, was nowhere near of what they bled.
It was now the first time the three remaining had been assigned to protect the lord. But even thought they were is guards it wouldn't be easy to have it done. First of all they were a unit of 10 not three, and they would need to kill the other seven to be sure they had killed the target, as his real identity was know only by a very few people, as he always moved in the mid of his own guards, setting up a decoy to represent him.
In the room he was waiting there was only seven of the elite unit present. He had confirmed that one of his comrades wasn't in the room, so the two of them here had to wait before going on with the plan.
A hour had already gone by, when steps were heard, the three missing came in as a unit- As soon as the door behind them closed,  they sprang into action.
Three were instantly killed by their hidden daggers, and the midst of confusion another two followed after the others, two were still breathing, one was able to avoid the attacks of his assailant the other one didn't had anyone to contend with.
Good” Stan thought, “This is going well.”. Now they were preparing to kill the other two with the advantage of numbers, throwing away their now useless daggers,  they grabbed arrow stones from their inside pockets, one of his opponents was making weird drawings with is hands certainly preparing to defend himself while the other one revealed a sword under his cape.
Stand and his two comrades smiled, they felt lucky for one of his last opponents being so weak that had to carry a sword around, it was actually very strange as they were a unit of supposedely the best of the best.
But as hes sword was being draw Stan froze. He knew that sword and to whom it belonged too,
As he was in this kind of trance he didn't release his stones, so he didn't went through the fact of having is spells no functioning.
Besides the swordsman, all the guards faces were of pure horror, it was the firt time in their lives that they weren't able to use their powers.
The swordsman made his move and stabbed one of them in the heart, he still had time to kill another one of them before they were even able to retaliate.
Stan was the last one still alive, but there was no hope in his eyes, only despair.
As his executioner approached his life flashed through his and a single phrase that he didn't had the time to say, as the sword pierced is heart, lingered in his mind “Forgive me.”.

Letter to the Death

Dear.

Do you remember that prophecy, the one that told you to die for the greater good, the one that made me the fucking alone hero that would save this crap of a world.
Well, if it's really true then you died for nothing.
I won't be the savior, I will be the killer.
I won't be the hope of Ralsaz, I will be is fucking doom.
Fuck it. I will piss on that prophecy of yours with every single drop of piss my body will be able to produce.
I will take my sweet revenge on it, by contradicting every single line of it.
And you can't do shit about it. Sucks to be death!
And no, I don't feel sorry for you, I only feel sorrow for me that has to leave the rest of its life without you.

You can always come back from the death!

Dearly yours, Alone Hero.

A lesson by Master Monty

There's a misconception running around the common people that Magic is only for some. While it's true that some have better skills than others, everyone can do magic to some extent.

But before I get further in this let's get a insight on the Magic itself.

Magic is divided into four elements Earth, Wind, Fire and Water. You can either use them one by one or in some kind of combination.

But to use magic you have to give something of you. Abusing it might lead to death if you aren't careful about ii.

When you use Earth you start losing body fat. While some people consider this a miracle of fitness it's extremely dangerous to do so in huge amounts, you will experience muscle pain, fevers, lack of strength etc..

To use Wind you need to give the air  that you breathe, what I mean is that you will experience a lack of air
when you do it, in severe cases of abuse you won't be able to breathe and die.

Water drains blood out of you, abuse of it brings the same symptoms of severe blood loss.

Fire drains your warmth, abuse of it might lead to a small cold or an ice statue.

Between these elements the most commonly used is Wind, since it's the one that represent less risks and everyone dedicated to magic explores it to some degree. But while it's the element easier to use it's also the weakest, there's not many Mages that dedicate themselves only to air.

Next on the list is Earth. It's very popular between knights who use it to strength their armor and weapons.

Fire and Water comes next, they lose to the other elements because you need access to either a reagent for fire or water for Water. While it's possible to use fire without a combustible it takes a huge toll on the user, and while water is somewhat everywhere, gathering an amount that you need to use some kind of skill might leave you unable to do anything else. This is of course irrelevant if you have access to the element itself in huge amounts.

Now, as I was saying at the beginning, everyone can use Magic to some extent. Every person has an inbuilt wall that doesn't let you abuse magic, some are higher than the others. What Mages do is to break that wall

A Mage can go behind that inbuilt protection and keep using Magic, but this requires an understanding of how far you can go to not pass a wall that you can never recover from.

So to conclude this, how much power and time you can use Magic depends on your limits. The limit is found by experience, going a little farther every time until you find a threshold that if you pass won't be able to recover from. There's many Mage's that die when trying to go a little farther.

So be careful.

Master Monty Marks

Master Monty introduction to Magic.

Earth, Fire, Water and Wind.

Everything that it's possible to do with magic can be decomposed and explained by this core elements.

So Magic in Ammerinthia is basically the ability to control this elements.

But to do so you have to give some thing for it.

Earth magic consumes your flesh. It's proeminent users  are mostly fat peope who have a lot of flesh to spend. Using it daily requires that you eat huge quantities of food so you don't end with only skin and bones.

Fire steals the warm from your body. It's very refreshing to use it in a warm environment but very risky in the cold, even if you are only trying to warm yourself, since you might be death by the time you are warming up.

Water takes a toll on your blood. It becomes thicker making it harder to circulate it through your body.

Wind magic takes oxygen from your body. It's the most used kind of magic since it can be replenished by just breathing, but it's also considered the weakest element since it's the one that requires more effort to change anything.

But even though everyone can use it, what you really can do change from person to person.

To discern what you can do is a mission that you only can finish, no one can tell what you can do or how far you can push yourself. That's something only you can find and in the worst case die for.

Here we will only teach you how to achieve something by using the least amount of Magic.

So by the end of this three years you will be able to identify and use anything in the best possible way to achieve what you have set your mind on.

This is will be our objective.
